Jacob and Drinkwater are both very highly regarded and sought after musicians and together they have drawn comparisons to the unique pairing of John Martyn and Danny Thompson with their dynamic and emotionally charged live performances.
Lukas Drinkwater needs no introduction to the Music in the Hall audiences having played two magical and memorable sessions here with Emily Barker.
Lukas has a truly extensive track-record as a multi-instrumental session player and producer and also performs and records with a number of collaborators including Tobias Ben Jacob.
Devon based Singer-Songwriter Tobias Ben Jacob has been recently lauded by BBC 6's Tom Robinson and this Spring has seen airplay for new single 'Burning Low' on national radio including BBC Radio 2, BBC6, Amazing Radio, BBC Introducing, BBC Bristol, Blues & Roots and FRUK as well as being described by R2 Magazine as 'inventive and thrilling'. He has also performed for the legendary broadcaster Whispering Bob Harris in one of his 'Under The Apple Tree' sessions.
The duo played their first gig together at Glastonbury 2014 and have been captivating audiences on the UK festival and acoustic scene since. The pair released the double A -side ‘Burning Low/Autosong’ on Folkstock Records in March and have an EP due for release in the summer.
Support tonight comes from a favourite of the local and national folk scenes. Kim Lowings and her band the Greenwood have earned the reputation of of “Stourbridge’s finest music export since the Mitre-fuelled heady days of late 80s indie-rock.” (Three Chords and the Truth UK). Tonight Kim peforms in a stripped back duo setting.
Wyre Forest Young Musician of the year Rachel Howles opens the evening.
